Italian Diner.

Peperoncino, Hyderabad

  • The Basics - 11am-11pm. Non-veg, No bar, Reasonably priced.
  • The Address - Banjara Hills, Road no. 12 (Opposite Rantnadeep grocery store)
  • The Verdict - Must try.
Located on the bustling street of Road no. 12, Banjara Hills, the restaurant is on the rooftop of a building that is still under construction. Customers can chose between outdoor and indoor seating, but we were advised not to opt for the outdoor seating as it had just rained and naturally, there would plenty of mosquitoes joining us for dinner!

The indoor seating reminded me of a beautifully done diner with booths and tables to chose from. The decor is minimal, but that's what I liked about Peperoncino. The owners tried to make the restaurant "typically American" and I think they did a good job in doing so. We chose a table by the window with a beautiful view of Banjara Hills at night. I loved it! Only upon a lot of investigation did I realize that the view was that of a slum! Nevertheless,  it was beautiful indeed.

The service was quick and the waiter was attentive. He helped us order our food along with the quantities. The menu is not very extensive but that isn't a bad thing all together. We skipped the soups and salads and went straight for the primi (first course in Italian). We tried the frittuara di pesce, fried fish in lemon sauce, risotto, the pollo classico pizza, lasagne di verdure and linguine carbonara. The latter, a pasta, is perfect for meat lovers! However, it would be wrong for me to say that the other dishes were bad, because they most definitely were not.

What I like most about Peperoncino is the fact that they had sizes to chose from in each dish. There was the traditional small and large pasta/lasagne etc. The pizza's however came in the usual 9'' inch, perfect for two depending on your appetite! There was ample cheese and meat and pizzas were cooked to perfection. Or was it just that we ordered right?!

Finally, for desert we ordered the tiramisu. Although it was good it did not meet my expectations. There was something lacking, and I could not point my finger to it.

Overall, a wonderful place with ample seating and a great view and service from the staff. I was slightly disappointed that they do not serve alcohol here, but I learned it was because they do not have an alcohol license as yet. I hope, when they do get one, this place will do better and will most definitely make for a better place to dine at. Good job guys, I'd love to see some more reasonably priced Italian restaurants opening up in Hyderabad!

Until then,

Your Foodista.
