Tasty Chaats

Kailash Parbat, Hyderabad
  • The Basics - 11am-10:30pm. Vegetarian. North Indian, Sindhi etc. No bar, Reasonably priced.
  • The Address - Nakshatra building, opposite Cream Stone, Road 36, Jubilee Hills.
  • The Verdict - Only for chaats.

At the heart of Jubilee Hills, Kailash Parbat's location has something going for it. Always difficult to get reservations here, it is recommended that you either head there at 7pm or book a table. I personally don't understand why KP is doing so well, as the only dishes that I really enjoyed are their chaats. Regardless, there must be something it that everyone loves, maybe I'm just yet to find it! Perhaps, it's the fact that their chaats are hygienic? That must count!

It is also advisable to visit this restaurant for its chaats more than anything else. Try anything you  like from dahi puri to pav bhaji (which also comes with options like cheese and masala pav, the latter which can be missed). I would suggest not trying their bhel puri as it came cold and was a bit soggy. If you are into your raggada patties being crispy on the outside, then this is not the place for you. However, if you like it cooked just right, then you must order one! For main course, the only dish that I would suggest is their kitchdi which comes with vegetables on the side. Oily, yes, but who cares!

So, if you're ever in Jubilee Hills it wouldn't hurt to give Kailash Parbat a shot, and it definitely won't hurt your pocket. It is not one of those quiet, romantic places, in fact, on the contrary it is pretty noisy, loud and brightly lit! Make your choice :)
