Chutney’s, Hyderabad
The Basics – simple, no-frills, quick service, cheap, vegetarian, South Indian food.
The Address – Road no. 36 Jubilee Hills, opposite Latitudes. Alternate address – Banjara Hills, near Nagarjuna circle, next to Subway.
The Verdict – it’s a shame if you haven’t visited it yet for their South Indian food.

Known for its South Indian food,
Chutney’s is perhaps the best place in Hyderabad for idlis, dosas and the like. I’m
not going to make this review long and boring, as not much need to be said
about Chutney’s. It is simply the best.
Absolutely reasonable, I prefer
to stick to the 70mm or paneer tikka dosa (available only for
lunch and dinner). Crisp yet soft, the dosas are perfect. The accompaniments
are even better – and this goes for everything! If it is Chutney’s that you are
going to, you cannot walk out without having tried their six chutneys and their piping hot sambar. The channa dal, coconut and tomato chutneys are probably their best and go well with pretty much anything you order.
For idli, try the Baba idli; dosa
– Chiranjeevi dosa. It makes for a perfect visit throughout the day and I can
confidently say, you can skip all the North Indian food on the menu.
Expect simply décor and a
no-frills restaurant with quick service and waiters that are always busy and on
the go. They do not take reservations, so try to go there as soon it opens so
you have place to sit – it tends to get VERY busy.
Plain dosa in the shape of a hat. |
