They’re Italian. They believe in good coffee. They serve good coffee and believe in the “legendary life”. Italy’s finest, Testa Rossa Caffe, has finally arrived in Hyderabad! The Testa Rossa Caffe brand (although Italian, it actually belongs to the Austrian company Handelshaus Wedl), which was established in 1994, is a popular hangout spot across the globe with branches in parts of Europe and Dubai.

When just a month old, Testa Rossa Caffe looked promising. It has promised and parking is a bit of problem here. Located on the posh road number 10 of Jubilee Hills, the red and white sign is hard to miss. The ambiance and the décor are pleasant with soft music playing in the background. The stone steps and the small pebbles laid on the floor outdoors gives this coffee shop a welcoming feel. The place is well spread out with seating both indoors and outdoors.

You’re one with nature sitting outside with natural greenery, stone pebbles and the overhead trellises. The stark white interiors contrasting with the bright red cushions and sofas adds to the already cheerful atmosphere. The staff are friendly and willing to lead you through their menu. There are a wide variety of coffees, hot chocolates, pizzas and deserts on offer. Chocolate lovers should try the Italian Hot Chocolate (with a choice of classic thick or soft and light textures) for Rs. 75. The Espresso Affogato, another Italian favourite, is nothing but vanilla ice-cream dipped in hot espresso. At Testa Rossa, it is made like the original. The espressos are priced between Rs. 50 and 75.

Keeping in the mind the needs of all its customers, TRC, introduced a Cioconat Light that claims to have 30% less calories than the usual cioconats. So for all you weight-watchers, there’s something in store for you!

Try the Chicken Hawaiian Salad (if you like pineapples and peppers!) for Rs. 150 or the Vegetarian Panini for 99. Also on the menu are the usual pastas (Rs. 150 – 220), pizzas (Rs. 170 - 190) and mocktails. Under the “Giorgio Grills” section on the menu, the High Steak – a chipotle chicken sandwich - is a must try.

Apart from just coffee and food, TRC has a pool table and a horde of board games like Taboo and Pictionary to choose from. They charge a small sum of Rs. 200 to rent the pool table for one hour.

The good mix of clientele, who seemed to be young and from a fairly high socio-economic background, makes for a good atmosphere. And although there isn’t much parking space, Testa Rossa is still worth a visit or two! Today, it almost a part of Hyderabadi culture, and rightly so.
